Buzz Café and Bar, located at Bhatbhateni, has been serving mouthwatering dishes to its patrons for three years now. Prior to this, the café was situated at Patan and was shifted at Bhatbhateni later. According to Bikash Gurung, Owner of the café, the shift here was owing to the locational strength. “Buzz now caters to the locals of Chakrapath, Maharjgunj and Chabahil. There are not much good
restaurants in the area, so we see a lot of customers here,” said Gurung.
The café is spread in a large area, with ample parking space, indoor dining place, outdoor huts, a full range bar and a well maintained garden. “All the hoteliers are focusing on the ambience and the extravagant outlook of their restaurants, but what I’ve created here is a minimalistic design that’s comfortable and cozy. It’s different than all the places you have seen,” says Gurung.
According to Gurung,
the setup is done at a low cost, with simple tables and chairs, and bamboo and straw huts on the outside. The walls are of red bricks, decorated with numerous Nepali hand made masks, giving a mystical feel to the place. There are paper lamps hanging all over the hut that comes alive at night. Strung dried chilies, garlic and onion bulbs are hung at places, giving a traditional look. The garden looks lively with hens and rabbits playing.
The entirety of the place gives a different feel.
Gurung believes that customers won’t swarm a place just because of its ambience; the food has to be good for that. That’s what buzz specializes in. though the place focuses on Thai cuisine, almost all varie
ties of food are available here.
The place is famous for its delicious wraps. Steak wraps, chicken barbeque wraps and veg wraps are very popular here. Another special dish here is Calamari tempura, calamari in seasoned tempura batter fried and served with a secret sauce. And what’s for dessert? Hot Fudge Brownie, a mountain of ice-cream, hot fudge on a fresh brownie, topped with chopped walnuts, chocolate sprinkles and a cherry. A perfect end to the perfect meal.
Not to miss here is the red curry, a spicy dish with your choice of meat, chicken, prawn and even veg. The meat is cooked in red curry paste and coconut milk. Local snacks like piro aloo and sukuti ko achar is also the specialty of Buzz. The kitchen is right at the centre of the garden, so that you can see what the cooks are up to. A unique thing here is the menu, as it has highlighted the signature dishes and spicy dishes. This makes ordering convenient, even to the first timers.
The café organizes various parties and live music every once in a while. According to owner, the majority of the customers are regulars who come here mostly through the word of mouth. “Once they taste the food here, they come regularly,” boasts Gurung.
The café seems to be truly buzzing with the crowd of people here. A nice ambience along with hygienic and delicious food, Buzz is all about that.
